About Turning Point USA
Turning Point USA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded on June 5, 2012 by Charlie Kirk. The organization’s mission is to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government.
Turning Point USA is a 24/7-365 activist organization. Our staff and students travel to campuses in all 50 states to identify young conservatives, connect them with local chapters and resources, advertise conservative values, engage in face-to-face and peer-to-peer conversations about the pressing issues facing our country.
Through innovative messaging and strategic outreach techniques, TPUSA has identified over 50,000 young conservatives, and engaged in over 500,000 face-to-face conversations with college students in the past year.
TPUSA works consistently to re-brand conservative values. With sound bites like, “Big Government Sucks” and the incorporation of pop culture, TPUSA is able to reach new demographics and continuously expand the base. We combine culture with politics to engage young people in meaningful face-to-face conversations. Our custom materials are the best in the industry, and have been distributed on over 1,000 college campuses across the country.
TPUSA is also the industry leader in voter registration on college campuses.
The organization is known nationally for its ability to efficiently identify and register thousands of new voters in every corner of the country. This past spring, TPUSA broke records by registering over 1,000 new voters in Florida in just 30 days!
Since its inception in 2012, Turning Point USA has been making history by changing the way conservative engage millennials. Below are some highlights on how TPUSA has changed specifically how conservatives reach out to young women, Latinos, and high school students.
Young Women’s Leadership Summit – June 2015
For too long, the left has said conservatives have a “War on Women.” In June of 2015, Turning Point USA hosted 125+ of the top female youth activists from across the country in Chicago, IL for the first annual “Young Women’s Leadership Summit.” While in Chicago, our young leaders received first-class activism training, leadership development, and policy education. They also had the opportunity to hear from a talented group of guest speakers such as Elisha Krauss, Rachel Campos-Duffy, Foster Friess, and many more. This conference served as an opportunity to not only network like-minded peers from over 35 different states, but it also served to inspire, educate, and train young females to be active leaders in the conservative movement.
Young Latino Leadership Summit – July 2015
In July of 2015, Turning Point USA hosted a Young Latino Leadership Summit with the top 50+ conservative Latino student leaders from across the country. Similar to the Young Women’s Leadership Summit, the purpose of the conference was to train, inspire, and motivate young Latinos to be active leaders and voices in the conservative movement. The Summit included activist training, leadership development, and speeches from individuals such as Chris Garcia, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and many others.
Many organizations work to engage and mobilize college students, but few attempt to include high school activists who want to make an impact. In August of 2015, Turning Point USA hosted the first annual “High School Activist Conference” in Chicago, IL with 75+ conservative high school students from over 30 different states. These students all had a passion for politics but never knew how they could make a difference. This conference provided a unique opportunity for high school students to receive activism training (who often can’t participate in regular campus activism), leadership development, and social media training. The overarching theme for the students was that they are not too young to make a difference. Speakers included Guy Benson, Caleb Bonham, Chris Garcia, President Thornbury, and many more.
Winter in West Palm Beach – December 2015
In December 2015, Turning Point USA organized and hosted the first annual “Winter in West Palm Beach Activist Retreat” with 250+ of the top conservative youth activists from across the country. This was, by far, the largest conference ever held specifically for young conservative activists. Students came from 40+ different states to attend this event! Throughout the three-day conference students heard from a variety of guest speakers including political commentator Bill Whittle, former Sean Hannity producer Elisha Krauss, former Congressman Joe Walsh, Rush Limbaugh producer James Golden, economist Stephen Moore, businessman Wayne Huizenga, Jr., and Turning Point USA’s Founder, Charlie Kirk.
In addition to developing a first-class campus activism program and singular conferences, TPUSA has written several original publications including How to Organize, Indoctrination Prevention, How to Debate your Teacher (and Win!), Capitalism Cures, 10 Ways Big Government Harms You, Game of Loans, and The Healthcare Games.
Our motto is, “Late to bed, early to rise, work like hell and organize.” We’re running out of time to turn this country around and we would be honored to have you join us.
